Your Privacy is Important to Us
This privacy policy explains how Moodama handles your data.
Data Storage
All your mood entries and settings are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. We do not collect, transmit, or store any of your data on external servers. If you use device backups via iCloud or your computer, the app's data may be included in these backups, as with any other app. These backups are managed by Apple or your computer, not by us.
Data Collection
Moodama does not collect any personal data. The information you enter stays on your device unless you choose to save it to Apple Health or export it yourself (see below).
Apple Health (optional)
Moodama can additionally save your mood entries to Apple's Health app. This feature is turned off by default and only becomes active if you turn it on in the app's settings under “Apple Health” and allow access when iOS asks.
- Moodama only writes your daily mood to Apple Health as “State of Mind”. If you change a mood, Moodama replaces its own entry for that day.
- Moodama does not read any data from Apple Health.
- The data is passed to the Health app directly on your device through Apple's HealthKit framework. We have no access to it, and it is not transmitted to us or to any third party. Data from Apple Health is not used for advertising, marketing, or data brokering.
- How Apple Health stores your data and, if applicable, syncs it between your devices via iCloud is governed by Apple's settings and privacy policy.
- You can revoke access at any time in the Health app under “Sharing” → “Apps” → “Moodama” or in the iOS Settings. Entries already saved to Apple Health can be deleted there.
No Analytics Data Collected
No usage statistics are collected by the app. No personal information is requested. The Apple App Store may collect basic analytics data regarding app installations, crashes, and usage through App Store Connect. This data is anonymized and aggregated. For more information, please refer to the App Store's privacy policy.
Notifications
If you enable notifications, Moodama will ask for permission to send local notifications. These notifications are scheduled and processed entirely on your device. So that you don't get a reminder on days you have already logged your mood, the app checks locally on your device whether an entry exists for a day. No data is collected or transmitted in the process.
Data Export and Import
You can export your mood data at any time through the app settings and import it again. The exported data is in JSON format, and both export and import take place entirely on your device. The export file only leaves your device if you save or share it yourself, for example to iCloud Drive or via a message.
Recovery from Database Problems
If Moodama cannot open its database, the app offers to share the database file so that you can keep a backup or send it to support for analysis. The file is only shared if you trigger this yourself and choose a destination. If you choose “Keep Backup and Start Over”, the previous database is moved to a backup folder on your device and is not deleted.
Third-Party Services
Moodama does not use any third-party services, analytics tools, or tracking mechanisms. The optional Apple Health integration only uses Apple's HealthKit system framework on your device.
Children's Privacy
Moodama does not collect any personal data from anyone, including children under 13 years old.
